The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing and deliberations on proposed code amendments that


respond to the County Council’s 2017 budget note directing the Department of Planning and Development


Services (PDS) to: 1) develop, evaluate, and propose amendments to the Snohomish County Code (SCC) that


would reduce the variability of school impact fee changes from one year to the next; and 2) brief the County


Council on proposed amendments by August 31, 2017.

The Planning Commission will be briefed on proposed code amendments updatingSnohomishCounty’s


regulations for personal wireless service facilities (frequently referred to as cell towers and wireless facilities).


The project proposes to amend several related code sections to standardize county code with changes to


federal regulations of personal wireless service facilities. Amendments are also proposed to clarify the county’s


review and approval process for these facilities.

PLANNING COMMISSION’S RANGE OF POSSIBLE ACTIONS:


 


At the conclusion of its public hearing, the County Planning Commission will consider transmitting a formal


recommendation to County Council concerning adoption of the proposal. The Commission may make a


recommendation to adopt or to not adopt the proposal. The Commission’s recommendation may also propose


amendments to the proposal. The Planning Commission is an advisory body and the final decision rests with


the County Council.
