This public hearing will be on proposed code amendments updatingSnohomishCounty’s regulations for urban


residential development including townhomes. The project will primarily propose amending several related


code sections for townhouse development as well as other types of urban residential development. Proposed


code amendments are designed to provide new development options, remove certain regulatory barriers, and


improve the quality of townhouse development.


 


Prior to the hearing, staff will provide a short briefing on key elements of the proposal that have changed since


the May 23, 2017, briefing.

Staff will provide a briefing on the background and options that respond to a County Council’s


2017 budget note directing the Department of Planning and Development Services (PDS) to:


1) develop, evaluate, and propose amendments to the Snohomish County Code (SCC) that would reduce the


viability of school impact fee changes from one year to the next; and 2) brief the County Council on proposed


amendments by August 31, 2017.


 


G. ADJOURN


PLANNING COMMISSION’S RANGE OF POSSIBLE ACTIONS:


 


At the conclusion of its public hearing, the County Planning Commission will consider transmitting a formal


recommendation to County Council concerning adoption of the proposal. The Commission may make a


recommendation to adopt or to not adopt the proposal. The Commission’s recommendation may also propose


amendments to the proposal. The Planning Commission is an advisory body and the final decision rests with


the County Council.
